Ideas on Safely and Easily Transporting your Goods

by admin on Sep.30, 2009, under Blogs, RSS and Podcasting

Foodstuff and fresh produce is big business in many parts of the country. For transporting to individual customers, or to exporting to other countries, stylized Food Packaging is necessary. This comes in the form of specialized and necessary containers or Corrugated Boxes. These keep the produce exceptionally cool and ready for the market.

When deciding on the needs of the producer, special attention should be paid to contents. For example, particularly perishable products, must travel well wrapped and preferably chilled to ensure that they arrive at their destination in pristine condition. Because of the nature of chicken, and the known problems it can cause, drips or leaks from the containers should be avoided. If fluid from the chicken manages to get onto other foodstuff, then this is highly dangerous. One of the biggest controversies of late was the salmonella outbreak some years ago. This was mostly due to improper storage, improper transportation and infected birds which were allowed to be sold. As a ‘knock on’ effect eggs were shunned by the public and, to this day, will not take anything with raw eggs included.

A great way to avoid any mishaps is to use cold packs around and in the containers transporting edible products. With meat produce, chilling or refrigerating well before stacking into containers, and then adding cold packs will go a long way to ensuring that the goods reach the intended target in good condition.

Fish is a very volatile commodity to transport. Seafood has an aroma that offends many and goes bad quite quickly and for this reason, and for the sake of freshness, custom made containers are advised. Meat and fish produce can be very heavy and for this reason, strong containers are necessary. This is where corrugated cardboard containers are especially suitable and they keep things stored inside at a constant temperature. The best containers for these products are wax coated containers that not only keep the products fresh, but will stop any cross contamination when transport time is great.

To save any unnecessary problems, ‘wet’ produce in particular, should be wrapped in heavy plastic bags. This is a kind of cross check to stop contamination. It also allows for the produce to be prepared and organized into individual packs ready for use. Perhaps the buyer only wants to use separate portions at a time. He can do this This is made easier by each piece being wrapped separately. They will also be ready to go straight into cold storage should the buyer prefer to freeze excess stock. Indeed, any small extra accommodation like this will make the product more desirable. The buyer willfind it much easier to receive the goods and place directly into the freezer.

Many companies provide and design purpose built containers to order. This is a great idea since the fresh produce seller can use this opportunity as an advertising gimmick. The name of the company supplying goods can have the name of the company printed all around the container and this will be viewed by all who handle it. Although it may be a bit more expensive to get these containers made, the reward of free advertising more than make up for any cost involved.
